Cheap Lake Wallenpaupack House for Sale: OPEN HOUSE Mar 28!

OKAY - you have been hoping to buy a house near Lake Wallenpaupack for some time. Maybe the amenity fees in places like Wallenpaupack Lake Estates (listings) worry you, especially after factoring in real estate taxes & renting a boat slip (WLE does have a marina but there is a waiting list for boat slips).

What to do? You'd love to have a vacation home but can't afford the other fees that come with it. THE MISSION IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

Have I got the perfect lake house for you - and it's only $109,900...and it's going to be OPEN Saturday March 28 from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m.

MAP - Right By Lake Wallenpaupack!!!

This cottage is ready to go - it's been freshly painted inside and has brand new carpet, too! Located less than a mile from the FREE public boat launch on Lake Wallenpaupack at Mangan Cove, it's in the most PERFECT location. The lot is spacious enough to allow you to park your boat when not in use - room to build a nice garage for just that purpose!

Click the picture for the VIRTUAL TOUR.

There are two bedrooms, large kitchen, dining area, one full bath, and a living room with a wood stove (hey, why not use the house in the winter too? It's not far at all from Tanglwood Ski Area, which had a banner 2008-2009 season!)

This home is ABSOLUTELY PRICED RIGHT for the bargain hunter. Close to town & shopping, but more importantly, super close to the BIG LAKE!

GUESS WHAT? DOUBLE WHAMMY tomorrow - not only will this cute little cottage be open but the house for sale next door is going to be available for viewing as well.

The blue house, 48 East Road, is significantly larger and has a terrific yard. My favorite component of this house is the AWESOME screened porch, and the deck has recently received a face lift. There are two bedrooms, one and a half baths - PLUS a full basement to finish for extra living space or to keep as a garage area. (My husband goes nuts over basements and garages, so I'm sure there are other guys like him out there who will start imagining great things for this house!)

At less than $150,000, it too is a terrific deal for someone who wants a vacation home close to Lake Wallenpaupack, without all the fees that come with having a home in a community.

Equal Housing - Don't Even THINK About Asking Me to Violate The Law!

Fair Equal HousingWe see this logo in all sorts of sizes on varous websites and advertisements.  What does it mean?

Basically, by having it displayed, it means that under Federal Fair Housing Law, I agree to abide by fair housing practice - meaning, that I will not discriminate against my clients and customers based on race, religion, national origin, sex, color, or familial status.  Oh, and I'm going to throw in sexual orientation there too, just in case someone was wondering.

But I'm not merely complying with the Fair Housing Act because it's the LAW and I would face serious fines and who knows what else if I violate the law - I comply with it simply because - duh - it's the right thing to do!

I am shocked when I hear stories about real estate agents who have discriminated against customers because of their race or some other reason...it's inexcusable.

I have, on more than one occasion, taken phone calls from potential customers, seeking information about the area.  Some are asking sensitive questions, such as "What's the crime like in this area?"

I really can only refer you to news websites, or you can contact the Pennsylvania State Police and question them about crime in the area. Worried about child predators?  Click here for the PA Megans Law Website.

Sometimes I am told by customers: "We do not want to live in an area where there are lots of kids...what do you recommend?"

Ouch - I'm sorry, this too is discrimination and I am unable to answer that legally.  You may want to visit the area, ask questions of your friends and family members - then YOU decide where you'd like to look for a home to buy.

The most obnoxious question I've been asked - this one I've gotten at least twice - is "I don't want to go in any areas, with, you know, the wrong kind of people, know what I mean?"

Oh, yeah, I know what you mean. (and let's be clear, these questions were not about crime ridden areas, or anything of the sort - it was obvious that racial discrimination was the motivating force behind the question.)  And I'm not about to feed your racism - the answer you'll get for me is "I'm sorry, sir, Federal Fair Housing Law prohibits me from making discriminatory judgements such as this."

And with that, I may say "Thank you for calling - have a good day!" and that will be the end of our conversation.  I do not want to give even a glimmer of an impression that I "understand" or empathize with this "position."

I have never been able to understand or tolerate racism.  AT ALL.  And I'm not about to start.

Pike & Wayne County PA Home Sales - Real Estate Market

Every time I talk to potential new buyers, they seem surprised that I've been busier than ever the past several weeks.

The economy, while depressing, has also encouraged buyers to invest in real estate, particularly vacation homes. Perhaps it is because some people are no longer interested in spending thousands of dollars per year traveling, when they could instead be investing in a Poconos vacation home to spend their vacation and weekends off.

Maybe the fact that they don't have to make reservations or worry about check in / check out times is appealing. Maybe they like the idea of having a place with lots of activities to come to whenever the mood strikes them.

Some people have become disillusioned with the stock market and are instead investing in something they can use and enjoy for several years, and later sell for a profit (to be safe, you should expect to own a home several years before seeing a profit; this is not a market for "flipping!")

Who knows? All I know is that last month saw tons of real estate activity for my clients - we had closings in Masthope, Fawn Lake Forest, and The Hideout. One was an income / investment purchase, one was a vacation home purchase, and one was a first time home buyer purchase.

My clients currently have pending sales in The Hideout, Hemlock Farms, Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, and Paupackan Lake Estates. One of them is a relocation; the rest are vacation / secondary homes.

There are buyers out there - if your home is priced right, and in a desirable location, it just may be the time to put it on the market.  Sellers in Wayne / Pike County PA: CLICK HERE!

Way To Go, Jack

I don't have a whole lot to say about tonight's episodes of 24.

The entire premise was preposterous.  Frogmen take over the White House?

Why didn't the terrorists KILL BILL?  Not that I wanted Bill dead, mind you, but it just made no sense that they killed all these worthless people, and let one of their biggest enemies live.  What the heck?

I forgot there even WAS  a Vice President until tonight.  After seeing him for that short time, I can see why - he's very forgettable and a perfect partner for the President.  Both of them are more boring than Wayne Palmer! And that's saying something!

Agent Walker should have lost her legs jumping onto that boat - her feet should have been propellor meat.

That said -

  • Loved the Chloe vs. Janice (or, as the crew on Dave Barry's Blog call her, notChloe) struggle.  I was wishing for Chloe to taser her icky rival.
  • Loved the screentime that Aaron got.  Totally love Aaron, and am glad to see him back. (But what happened, I wonder, to Martha?)
  • TOTALLY LOVED Jack tasering the phone when Madame Boring President was nagging him to leave Burnet alone.  That was the best part of the entire two hours, in my opinion.
  • Terrorist slapping the President across the chops was pretty cool too.

I had to laugh at Madame Pres and her sidekick Ethan threatening Burnet - after what he went through with Jack, they couldn't come close to skeering him.

The best part of 24 is reading the incredibly entertaining parody recaps by The Amazing Steve the 24 Guy.

I'm getting ready to break out my season 1 DVD set - I miss the 24 of the past - I miss President Allstate.  Or at least, I miss the evil "Darth President Vader" from season 6, played by Powers Booth.  Noah something.  I wish he were around.  He was pretty cool.

QUOTE FROM THE AMAZING STEVE:

"6:13 pmJack arrives to meet Bill and does what Jack always does when he enters a room, he beats the snot of someone that was guarding him and pulls a gun on everyone else. But this is Bill we're talking about here, so Bill seems at least a little surprised. Jack asks where the heck Burnett is, and for some reason Bill doesn’t agree to help, even though Bill helped run a super double secret probation operation to catch Dubaku. Jack ties up Bill, which doesn't seem like a good idea. Jack finally tells Bill that he just wants to keep him out of the whole situation, and gives him a Jack Hug. The Jack Hug makes Bill pass out. Jack goes through a bag and finds a taser. Must be Chloe's purse."
